Your visit to Cretaquarium can be combined with any of a number of brief forays into the rich historical past of the Gouves, Hersonissos and Malia area. Tourist development began here in the 1970s, and the area is now the heart of tourism on Crete, with first class hotel infrastructure, road links, wonderful beaches and well-known historical sites, dating from the island’s Minoan, Roman, Venetian and recent past.  
 
You can combine all of the above just how you please when visiting Cretaquarium. All of the places mentioned below are 15km or less from the aquarium.
